Montana

For many when they think of the word Montana they often think of the weather or ranching. While these both are a part of what the state has to offer there are also many different historical and natural places of interest that you can visit. Below are some of the best places to visit in the state.

Custer’s Battlefield: Located in the southern part of Montana this is the place where General George Custer fought the Battle of the Little Bighorn against the Sioux and Cheyenne Indians. To force them back on to their reservations the government sent the seventh cavalry to state. Outnumbered three to one Custer attacked them, leading to his death and defeat at the Battle. A good time to visit is during the summer.

Glacier National Park: This beautiful national park offers scenic lakes, forests and views that will impress any visitor. It was named after the glaciers that shaped and formed one of Montana’s best parks millions of years ago. With over 700 miles of trails the park is an excellent place to go hiking or to go camping. Another spectacular way to see the park is to drive the on the highway which will take you all the way to the very top of the park.
Fort Peck Dam: Located in Northern part of the state this is the highest of the six major dams on the Missouri River and produces hydro electricity for much of Montana. The recreation and fishing in Charles M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge is some of the best in the entire region.

Montana is a state of beauty and wonder. A few of the many activities that the entire family can do include visiting Custer’s Battlefield, seeing Glacier National Park and visiting Fort Peck anyone of these activities can provide an enjoyable yet memorable experience when you visit the state.
