Indiana

There are many great places to visit in the State of Indiana. The State of Indiana can be divided into three distinct traveling regions. The northern third of Indiana stretches from the border with Michigan to the Lafayette and Kokomo areas. The central third of the state stretches south of Kokomo and Lafayette, to an area near Greenwood, just past Indianapolis. And the southern third of Indiana reaches all the way south to the shared border with Kentucky.

In the northern third of the state, visitors will find many Amish settlements, as are common throughout the state. Visitors may also choose to visit Indiana Dunes, a sandy beach located on Indiana's shores of Lake Michigan. Northern Indiana also offers many shopping opportunities, and small, country museums to educate visitors on the history of the state.

Central Indiana includes the state's capital city of Indianapolis. Visitors to this area can take in an Indianapolis Colts football game, and visit Indiana's State House and the Soldier's and Sailor's Monument in downtown Indianapolis. Visitors may also wish to visit the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Museum and Library, the Indiana State Museum, and the Eiteljorg Museum of American Art.

In the southern third of Indiana, visitors will find much farmland, hilly, wooded terrain, and natural forests to visit. Perhaps the most popular place to visit in the southern portion of the state is the Brown County State Park, located about 30 miles east of Bloomington. Visitors will also enjoy Indiana's riverfront views of the Ohio River at Evansville, and all along the southern border of the state. Visitors to Evansville can also tour LST-325, a World War II Navy ship, which is permanently stationed at Evansville's Dress Plaza. The LST does take morale trips up and down the river from time to time.
