Delaware
Perhaps an often overlooked state for traveling, Delaware is very much underrated. For all of its history, dating back to Pre-Colonial days and boasting a vast number of museums and monuments dedicated to those who helped shape the country, Delaware is rich in heritage and culture.
With its motto "It's Good Being First," it proudly displays its past and the notability to have been the first state to ratify the Constitution of the United States of America. It makes up for being the second smallest state by offering a vast number of sights and attractions. From cobblestone streets of New Castle to the square in Dover, where the proud people rallied and supported the Constitution.
Not to be missed in Delaware is the shopping, best known for being a place to find great bargains and wonderful finds. The entire state is free of sales tax, so it is easy to enjoy an inexpensive romantic evening or a shopping getaway, visiting one of the outlets, such as Tanger Outlet Center which contains over 130 name-brand stores. All tax-free! But this does not take away from the luxury of Delaware, with a number of historic hotels, such as the Hotel du Pont located in downtown Wilmington, and high-quality wineries, such as the Nassau Valley Vineyards with its free self-guided tours displaying the history of wine-making and a wine-tasting.
Delaware is also the place for those seeking outdoor adventures with the Brandywine Valley, ideal for hiking, camping, hunting, fishing, and wildlife-watching. Not to mention the beauty of the seashore alone the Atlantic Ocean. It is a unique state, not to be passed over.
