California

California has a series of unique geological features that extend north to south along nearly the entire length of the state. They create a wide variety of scenery and climates that help to make California a great place to visit.

The Califormia coastline extends 900 miles from Oregon to the Mexico border. Many tourists are attracted to the beaches and the rugged coastline. At Big Sir, just south of Monterey, the mountains plunge right into the coastline.

The major city in California is Los Angeles. Los Angeles is the home to many hollywood movie stars and celebrities. The Los Angeles California area is a group of several dozen communities that has formed the largest city on the West Coast. Los Angeles has tropical beaches, shopping malls, yet just a few hours from the Redwood Forests and a few hours away from year round golf in Palm Springs.

San Francisco is located 400 miles north of Los Angeles. It is a beautiful city on a hilly pennisula. Yosemite national Park is only 4 hours from San Francisco and Napa Valley is less than an hour to the north.

Between these two major cities, lie many beautiful coastal towns like Monterey and Santa Barbara plus the spectacular scenic coastline of Big Sur. The Mojave Desert and the resort of Palm Springs are not far from Los Angeles.

California offers many different attractions that are just only a short drive from where you are visiting. Many different places have different climates and landscapes. California is a great place to visit.
